X-ray
X-ray is a widely used method of visual diagnostics.
X-rays are a kind of radiation known as electromagnetic waves. X-ray imaging builds pictures of the inner part of ones body, that helps the specialist make a diagnosis and choose an effective treatment.
X-rays (RTGs) are most commonly performed to diagnose or evaluate:
- injuries (fractures, dislocations) and diseases of the bone and joint system (for example, degenerative changes, formations, inflammation);
- spinal diseases (eg degenerative changes, scoliosis, osteoporotic fractures);
- lung and heart disease;
- sinus diseases, etc.
All examinations are performed with the help of digital X-ray equipment. Compared to conventional X-ray techniques, digital X-ray reduces the dose of radiation.
The images are stored and are available on the DATAMED.
! Whether the patient is undergoing a self paid or a state-funded X-ray examination, a doctor's referral is mandatory.
Justification: Cabinet Regulation No. 482 Regulations on Protection against Ionizing Radiation in Medical Irradiation, Paragraphs 12 and 14.
