Spirography
Spirography or spirometry is a functional examination of the lungs, which provides an opportunity to objectively assess the external respiratory functions, the degree of their disorders, as well as the medication used.
The method is indicated in all cases of lung disease and respiratory failure of unknown origin.
Spirography is recommended:
- for diagnostic purposes: in cases of prolonged (4-8 weeks) cough or shortness of breath;
- to monitor and evaluate the course of treatment and to target the necessary medicines, eg bronchodilators, anti-inflammatory drugs - inhaled glucocorticoids, cell membrane stabilizers - intestinal, tailed, etc .;
- for smokers over the age of 40;
- before major lung surgery to assess the risks.
