The provision of compulsory health examinations (OVP) for employees is provided bases on the Labor Protection Law, while the procedure is specified in the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 219 "Procedures for carrying out the compulsory medical examination". The purpose of this OVP is to protect the health of the employee.
However, legislation is not the only reason for health checks. Health must be taken care of daily and preventive examinations must be carried out periodically. Therefore, a mandatory health check can also be a great reason to check your health.
In order for the doctor to assess the patient's state of health, it is necessary:
- collection of medical history,
- analysis of medical history;
- clarification of issues related to the treatment process;
- hearing the patient.
One of the main processes of treatment is personal communication between the patient and the doctor: both the patient must be interviewed and his general health must be assessed.
"Zemgales Health Center" offers mandatory health examinations (OVP) not only for the protection of employee health, but also for in-depth health examination to timely identify health disorders that have occurred both as a result of harmful factors in the work environment and various other life factors. We emphasize that it includes full-fledged specialist consultations, in which it is possible to examine the patient's health issues in depth.
How do these health checks work?
- Employees who have been issued an referral by their employer with the occupational risk points indicated for their profession are approached or contacted by the receptionist to make an appointment with an occupational doctor.
- The compulsory health examination (OVP) begins with an examination by an occupational doctor, who, after evaluating all the norms prescribed by law, as well as listening to the patient and filling in a questionnaire, prepares a plan with the necessary specialist and examination procedures.
- Within two weeks, the patient must visit the necessary specialists and perform the specified examinations. The patient can choose the medical institution to visit specialists. If specialists choose to visit another institution, a statement form 27 / u is required, which indicates whether the patient is fit for work according to the specified risk factors.
- The patient then returns to the occupational doctor for a re-consultation for conclusions and recommendations.

We remind you that preventive inspections are so important. During them, it is possible to identify changes in all health indicators compared to previous periods, to detect deviations from the norm of health indicators, as well as to start appropriate treatment in time, if necessary.
