Audiometry
Audiometry is an accurate instrumental auditory test performed with an electroacoustic audiometer.
Audiometric examinations are required to:
- certain hearing acuity;
- determine the threshold of hearing and sensitivity to different sounds;
- a certain threshold for hearing impairment;
- choose a suitable hearing aid;
- test speech intelligibility;
- diagnose diseases of the middle ear and inner ear.
Procedure of the examination:
Headphones (like listening to a tape recorder) are placed on your ears, through which beeps are given. When the patient hears a beep, he or she presses the button to confirm that he or she has heard the sound. The volume and pitch are changed. The result of the hearing test is a graph (audigram) showing the nature and extent of the hearing impairment.
According to the results of the examination, the doctor diagnoses various degrees of hearing impairment.
The procedure is comfortable and painless.
