Human feet designed for balanced body support provided by 26 bones (a quarter of all body bones), 33 joints, more than 100 muscles, tendons, ligaments, as well as blood vessels, neural network, soft tissues and skin. The foot absorbs shocks and provides flexibility for even heavy people. Every structural or functional disorder in any part of the foot affects the whole body.
Podometry is a computer diagnosis of foot load. The patient climbs on a special surface connected to the computer. The screen will display a footprint map, highlight the points that are overloaded, and show those places in the footprint that are underemployed. Diagnostics is performed not only in statics, but also in dynamics. When analyzing this data, I will recommend supinators - insoles specially tailored to your needs, which will help the foot to work properly and eliminate disturbing side effects. You can help not only with special insoles, shoes, but also with inserts for the velcro of the foot, “hammer” toes, thumb, toe pads, etc.
Cases where podometry is desired:
- prophylactically - for children from 5 years of age, if flat feet are suspected
- knee or ankle deformity - X, O type legs
- diabetes mellitus and reduced sensitivity in the footsteps
- pain of unknown origin in the feet, legs, back
- burning sensations in the feet
- fatigue of the feet and legs under light load
- various types of foot deformities (stones appear, hammers)
- long-term work with increased load on your feet
- swelling of the legs
- be forced to see a foot care professional often (formations, thickenings, corns)
- prolonged wearing shoes with a high heel or shoes without a heel
- after knee and hip replacement
- after injuries
- leg abbreviation
The specialist not only determines the diagnosis, but also informs about the possibilities of prevention, treatment and orthosis in each individual case. Many problems, if noticed in time, can be eliminated by using orthopedic insoles, heels, toe pads, special shoes.
By finding out what's in your footsteps, together we can not only prevent a more serious problem from developing, but significantly improve our quality of life.
