Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the name of a very common group of viruses. They do not cause any problems in most people, but some types can cause genital warts or cancer.
It is important seeing a gynecologist. If the HPV test results are abnormal, there will be a referral for a colposcopic procedure.
It is advised to visit a gynecologist annually for a checkup, and any time tehre are symptoms that concern.
